Coffee shops

At ISS, we are passionate about coffee and its role in bringing people together. Our two coffee shop brands, Union House and Unity Coffee, are designed to provide a space for customers to create community over great coffee.

Our coffee partner, Social Impact Coffee CIC, was founded to make coffee better – for people and the planet – and reinvests 65% of profits into social impact employment and community projects.

At Union House we strive to create moments of belonging – whether that’s for a few moments while a customer grabs a coffee, a place to meet colleagues, or to catch up with a friend. Union House is built to deliver a flexible solution for clients, suitable for every budget and coffee preference, with a range of coffee partners, from social enterprise to high street coffee shop leaders.

From being there for your morning ritual to energising your journey home, our premium coffee shop brand, Unity Coffee, is where people come together as individuals and leave as communities. Unity Coffee is more than just a café. It’s where we collaborate for change, meet with colleagues, and have meaningful conversations. Here you’ll find pride and purpose in every detail; from our ethical support of our producers and their skills refined over generations, to our customers, who savour every sip and bite of what they’re enjoying from the menu.

Our signature Unity coffee bean is provided by our coffee partners Social Impact Coffee CIC, and is roasted in London’s first fully electric, clean-air coffee roastery. At least £1 per kilo of coffee sold goes to Villa Linda School in Guatemala, helping to transform lives through education.

Whatever we’re doing, we cultivate togetherness for a supportive environment with wellbeing at heart, united over great coffee and grounded in meaningful change.

Restaurants

Our carefully curated portfolio of restaurant brands offers a great solution for clients in healthcare, office and government spaces alike. Grounded in insight, The Place and The Whole Grain have been built on solid foundations and are continually adapted based on food and consumer trends.

We know that our customers love new and exciting food experiences, so we offer an expansive marketing calendar, incorporating seasonal campaigns, a range of theme days and curated events, and ever-changing retail offers, designed to add interest throughout the year.

The Place is all about fuelling teams fast. Serving up a wide selection of fun foodie concepts that offer hearty and nutritious takes on comfort food classics, customers will enjoy great value and plenty of variety.

The Place provides a space where customers can decompress and recharge, prioritising value and simplicity, with a focus on providing nutritious meals and a stress-free dining experience. The Place is the ideal space to feed a variety of customers, from manufacturing employees to hospital staff and visitors.

Designed as an appealing alternative to a high street meal deal or a packed lunch, The Whole Grain offers everything today’s professional is looking for in an in-house restaurant. The Whole Grain has been built to feed employee wellness through good, nutritious food that puts a smile on people’s faces.

Education

Our two brands in the Education sector, Feeding Hungry Minds and Tiller & Hobs, prioritise variety, inclusivity, and an adherence to high nutritional standards that ensure meaningful dining experiences for all students.

Sustainability is a key priority within our Education food brands, and ISS was the world’s first organisation to launch Coolfood-certified low carbon  meals in a primary and secondary educational setting. We are also proud to offer ProVeg’s School Plates Programme, helping school caterers create healthier and more sustainable meals.

At Feeding Hungry Minds, our primary school food brand, we believe that it is every child’s right to be able to eat a lunch that is freshly prepared ever day using quality seasonal ingredients. Learners of all ages need refuelling during a day in the classroom, and we’re here to make sure there’s plenty of delicious, home-cooked food ready to be enjoyed when the lunch bell rings.

At Tiller & Hobs, our secondary school food concept, we’re shaking up the lunchtime scene with a fresh and relevant approach. Our menu serves up balanced, wholesome meals that keep minds sharp and bodies energised. We educate, inspire, and high-five Mother Nature, as food nourishes not just us, but the planet too.

Unattended retail

The way in which consumers consider, choose and purchase food is changing. Offering a food and beverage solution for your employees doesn’t always need to take up vast amounts of retail space or require hours of labour to operate.

We can help you with right-sized, cost-effective solutions that are more compact and can be more efficient. We can repurpose potential space from as little as 2m² and a 13amp socket, whether that’s a small storage area, a popular walkway or a meeting or reception area, we can design and implement aesthetically pleasing food and beverage solutions.

Sustainability

Our food chain accounts for almost a third of all carbon emissions, and as a global provider of food services, we have a responsibility to ensure we procure food effectively and reduce our food waste.

We’re here to make it easier for our clients to reach their sustainability goals, introducing proactive measures to help build a better tomorrow, and create significant and tangible value.

We support our clients’ Scope 3 emissions targets, with our food sustainability strategy focusing on significantly reducing carbon emissions, minimising food waste, plus driving circularity and responsible purchasing. Our near term SBTi-reduction target ensures the ongoing commitment of reduction of emissions in line with climate science.

A key aspect of our sustainability efforts is our membership of the World Resources Institute, through which we offer Coolfood-certified low carbon meals, which produce 38% lower carbon emissions than the average meal. We incorporate at least three Coolfood-accredited meals per week into our menu cycles.

Culinary excellence

Our expert team of Development Chefs work continuously to ensure our menus are filled with innovative and appealing dishes that can be delivered by our teams with ease.

Behind every great meal is one of our chefs, and ensuring we develop and train them is pivotal to how we deliver food. Our Food Fighters forum brings our culinary community together to ensure we share best practice and develop new food options for our clients and consumers.

Our masterclass programmes include a range of culinary classes that focus on the latest food trends and the latest cooking techniques, delivered by our industry partners including The Ground Up Cookery School, Glynn Purnell and Colin Wheeler James Fermentation and Sushi, allowing our teams to experience new methods and techniques that can be applied to our everyday operations.

To enhance the wellbeing of our catering teams, we partner with Burnt Chef, a social enterprise committed to making the hospitality profession healthier and more sustainable. Teams are offered mental health support including access to a 24/7 helpline dedicated to hospitality professionals.
